Services
We provide a variety of consulting services:
Timber Sales
When selling timber, you need a consulting forester! They are the qualified knowledgeable representatives you need when thinking about pursuing timber sale, you wouldn’t want to go to court without a knowledgeable lawyer to represent you and this is similar. It doesn’t matter if you have 10 acres or 10,000 acres of forested land without qualified representation you are most likely losing out on thousands of dollars and possibly harming the forests’ long-term health that could take decades to recover.
We will handle the entire timber sale process from start to finish. We first meet with the landowner to walk the perspective harvest area and talk with them in detail about the goals and objectives they have for managing their property, and what harvesting treatment is best aligned with those. We will walk and mark the boundary surrounding the harvest area to ensure ownership and access logistics. Inventorying the timber, marking the trees for harvest and those that will remain after harvest (based on landowner objectives) will provide us with a volume estimate and trees per acre per species, that will be used to determine the stumpage value (the value of the standing trees “on the stump”). Using the inventory data and other necessary information (stand
maps, sale location and access, additional landowner requirements) a timber sale prospectus will be prepared and sent (mail or email) to potential reputable harvesting contractors, who are able to submit a bid for what they believe the stumpage value is. Sealed sale bids are sent to our office along with a bid deposit within the bidding window provided in the prospectus. If the bid is accepted, a timber sale contract is then prepared containing all necessary details regarding the harvest plan. Frequent inspections are conducted to ensure all obligations of the contract are being fulfilled. Once the harvest is complete, close-out procedures are implemented, and the area is inspected by our firm.
Typical Timber Sale Agenda:
-
Landowner consultation
-
Forest assessment and logistical reconnaissance
-
Determine silvicultural prescription (recommendations provided, but ultimately the landowners’ decision)
-
Boundary reconnaissance and marking

Timber Inventory and Appraisals
Counting trees may sound simple—but accurately determining what your timber is worth takes education, experience, and the right tools. Understanding the value of your standing timber is a critical part of forest ownership, whether you are planning a timber sale, evaluating property value, preparing for an estate settlement, or simply wanting to know the worth of your resource. Our firm provides comprehensive timber inventory and appraisal services that give you reliable, data-driven information about your forest’s composition, condition, and value.
A timber inventory is the foundation of any accurate appraisal. Our professional foresters conduct detailed fieldwork to collect data on tree species, diameter, height, quality, and product class (pulpwood, sawtimber, veneer, etc.). We also assess stand structure, age class distribution, and site conditions that may influence growth and value. Inventories are conducted using statistically sound sampling methods—measuring a representative portion of the stand to reflect the characteristics of the entire area accurately.
Once the field data are collected, the information is analyzed using specialized forestry software and statistical models to estimate standing volume (in board feet, cords, or tons) and product distribution by species. From there, we determine stumpage value (the value of standing trees “on the stump”) using current local or regional market prices, logging accessibility, and quality factors. The final timber appraisal provides an objective, defensible estimate of your timber’s fair market value.
Our appraisals are frequently used for timber sales, insurance claims, property assessments, estate and tax purposes, or litigation support. Whether your property is a few acres or several thousand, we provide the same level of precision, professionalism, and care to ensure you understand the true value of your forest resource.
A professional timber inventory and appraisal not only reveals the financial value of your forest—it also provides critical information for management decisions, planning future harvests, and maintaining long-term forest health and sustainability.

Forest Management Plan Writing
A Forest Management Plan is the foundation of responsible and sustainable forest stewardship. It serves as both a roadmap and a record—guiding decisions about when, where, and how to manage your woods while ensuring the long-term health and productivity of your forest. Whether your goals include income generation, wildlife enhancement, recreation, or long-term conservation, a well-written management plan provides the structure and strategy to achieve them.
Forest Management Plans are comprehensive documents that detail the current and projected conditions of your forest. Each plan includes essential information such as stand boundaries, forest composition and structure, growth and yield projections, soil descriptions, access considerations, and detailed maps. These plans are designed to guide silvicultural prescriptions, harvest scheduling, habitat management, and long-term monitoring efforts—ensuring that every management activity is aligned with your objectives and ecological sustainability.
The process begins with a landowner consultation to clearly define your goals and expectations. Next, our foresters conduct on-site assessments to collect stand inventory data, evaluate forest health, identify management opportunities, and analyze site-specific factors such as soils, terrain, and access. Using this data, we prepare detailed stand descriptions and perform growth and yield analyses to model how your forest will develop over time under various management scenarios.
Once the data and analyses are complete, we work closely with you to review and refine the recommendations presented in the plan. The final management plan includes a clear, actionable set of silvicultural prescriptions, timeframes for implementation, and long-term monitoring strategies—all tailored to your goals.
A professionally prepared Forest Management Plan not only provides a clear framework for decision-making—it also ensures that every action taken today contributes to a healthier, more valuable, and more resilient forest tomorrow.

Silviculture Recommendations, Prescriptions, and Implementation
Many landowners ask the same question: “What should I do with my woods?” The answer depends on your goals—and understanding what’s right for your forest takes experience, science, and a site-specific approach. That’s where we come in. Our firm provides professional silvicultural recommendations, prescriptions, and implementation services designed to help you make informed, sustainable decisions for your woodland.
Silviculture is the science and art of managing forest growth, composition, health, and quality to meet a landowner’s objectives. Whether your goals are to improve timber quality, enhance wildlife habitat, promote regeneration, or restore forest health, we develop customized management prescriptions based on on-the-ground assessments and sound ecological principles.
We begin by walking your property with you to understand your management goals, assess forest conditions, and identify opportunities or challenges such as overcrowding, poor regeneration, or invasive competition. From there, we develop a Silvicultural Prescription—a written, stand-specific plan that outlines the recommended treatments, timing, and methods to achieve your desired outcomes.
Our firm can also coordinate and oversee the implementation of those treatments, ensuring work is completed according to the prescription and best management practices. This may include timber stand improvement (TSI), crop tree release, thinning, wildlife habitat enhancement, regeneration harvests, tree planting for reforestation, or integrated pest management (IPM). We provide on-site supervision during operations to ensure high-quality results and minimal impact to the residual stand and surrounding resources.
Our goal is to help you do what is right for your woods—balancing economic, ecological, and personal values to create a healthy, productive, and sustainable forest that will thrive for generations to come.
Typical Silvicultural Services Include:
-
Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) – Removing poor-quality, damaged, or competing trees to promote the growth of higher-quality residual trees.
-
Crop Tree Release – Identifying and freeing high-value trees from competition to improve long-term quality and growth.
-
Wildlife Habitat Improvement – Enhancing food, cover, and diversity for game and non-game species through strategic stand management.
-
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) – Monitoring and managing forest pests or diseases using environmentally responsible control methods.
-
Reforestation and Tree Planting – Establishing new forest stands or converting non-forested areas to healthy, sustainable woodlands.
-
Regeneration and Prescribed Harvest Planning – Guiding harvest decisions to ensure successful natural or artificial regeneration.
-
Ongoing Monitoring and Adaptive Management – Evaluating forest response and adjusting prescriptions over time to meet evolving goals.
Wildlife Management
When it comes to wildlife management, having a professional consulting forester or wildlife biologist on your side is essential. Just as you wouldn’t go to court without a qualified attorney, you shouldn’t make major habitat management decisions without professional guidance. Whether you own 10 acres or 10,000 acres, an experienced consultant ensures your property’s wildlife potential is fully realized—protecting habitat diversity, improving species balance, and enhancing both recreational and ecological value. Poorly planned habitat work can easily lead to wasted time, unnecessary expenses, and long-term habitat degradation that may take decades to correct.
We handle the entire wildlife management process from start to finish. Our first step is to meet with the landowner to discuss goals—whether that’s improving deer and turkey populations, enhancing songbird diversity, creating pollinator habitat, or restoring native ecosystems. Together, we’ll walk the property to assess existing conditions, habitat types, and limiting factors that may be preventing your desired wildlife outcomes.
Following the assessment, we’ll prepare a Wildlife Management Plan tailored to your objectives and property conditions. This plan outlines detailed recommendations for habitat improvements such as selective timber stand management, food plot establishment, native plantings, invasive species control, creation of wildlife openings, edge feathering, and wetland or riparian buffer restoration. Each recommendation is based on sound ecological principles and local habitat needs.
Once the plan is approved, our firm can assist in implementing and monitoring the habitat projects, ensuring that work is completed to professional standards and that it meets the landowner’s goals. We also provide ongoing monitoring and adaptive management services to evaluate results and make adjustments as conditions or objectives change.
With professional guidance, your property can become a thriving, balanced habitat that supports healthy, diverse wildlife populations for generations to come.

Invasive Plant Control
Invasive plants have become increasingly common in our forests, fields, and rights-of-way—and they represent one of the most serious threats to forest health and biodiversity. Each invasive species behaves differently and requires its own unique control approach. What they all have in common is their ability to outcompete and displace native trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants, often leading to long-term ecological damage and reduced forest productivity.
Whether your goal is to improve overall forest health, enhance wildlife habitat, or simply restore the natural beauty of your property, our firm can develop a customized invasive plant management plan designed specifically for your land. We will assess your property to identify the invasive species present, determine the extent of each infestation, and prioritize treatment areas based on severity, accessibility, and ecological impact.
Our approach combines mechanical, chemical, and cultural control methods to ensure effective, efficient, and environmentally responsible management. Mechanical control may include cutting, mowing, pulling, or grubbing individual plants or dense patches. Chemical control utilizes carefully selected herbicides applied by licensed professionals using the safest and most effective methods, such as foliar, cut-stump, or basal bark treatments. In many cases, long-term control also includes promoting the recovery or replanting of native vegetation to prevent reinvasion and stabilize treated areas.
Once treatment begins, we provide ongoing monitoring and follow-up to ensure that control efforts are successful and that treated sites recover properly over time. We can also assist with mapping infestations, documenting progress, and applying for available cost-share or assistance programs to offset treatment costs.
Our goal is to restore ecological balance to your property by eliminating invasive plants and promoting the return of healthy, resilient native plant communities. With a thoughtful and well-executed control plan, you can reclaim your woods and ensure they remain productive, diverse, and sustainable for generations to come.
